About The National Capital Concert Band
Organized in 1996, the National Capital Concert Band has established a reputation as one of the area's premiere performing ensembles. Since its inception the band has presented concerts in a variety of venues throughout the Ottawa region. The band is proud of its close relationship with the Music Department of Carleton University under whose aegis the band was founded. The band has mutiple recordings over the years including classic works for military and concert bands, symphonic winds, as well as our very own Christmas album.
In keeping with concert band tradition, the National Capital Concert Band performs a variety of music, both original and transcribed works which display the versatility of the ensemble. The repertoire includes music to suit a variety of musical tastes from classical and symphonic works to Broadway shows and military marches. Solo performances by virtuoso members are a feature on all of our concerts.
Several of the band's sixty members have musical experience gained in professional orchestras and military bands. Other members have backgrounds as private or school music teachers. Our membership also includes a number of promising students from local high schools and universities.
